A Yank "Down Under"

Making Friends in AustraliaGiven that I had the opportunity to head to the evolutionarily isolated land that is now known as Australia, it's time to debunk the myths.
Aside from Kangaroos hopping through the city and the government rebate for domesticating the growing number of friendly Koalas, I sometimes forgot that I was even in Australia...that is until I'd try to cross left flowing traffic or use the archaic metric system (who thinks in base 10 these days?).
To be fair, I also noticed that it was clear skies and sunny instead of windy and snowing (summer over Christmas just doesn't feel the same though).
I tried to take advantage of the situation and bought a bicycle and road to work most every day. Sitting in the GE Money office in Melbourne but working for Corporate was an eye-opening experience.
Therefore, I present the top 5 things that bothered me for 6 months:
1. Turkey cost more than roast beef and ham
2. The use of the word "meant" in future tense as a synonym for "supposed"
- e.g. "I'm meant to meet my friends for dinner tonight"
3. Red & green bell peppers are called Capsicum
4. An Americana pizza has the toppings salami, capsicum, and onion...is anyone from this part of America?
5. Burger King goes by the secret name of "Hungry Jacks"
