Girl Scouts Community Service Day

GE Healthcare Team at Camp SilverbrookOn Wednesday, May 5th, the GE Healthcare IMLPs teamed up with the Healthcare Global IT Security Team and volunteered at the Girl Scouts of Wisconsin Silverbrook Program Center.  This Program Center spans 265 acres surrounding an 80 acre lake and serves 1,500 Girl Scouts throughout the Southeast Wisconsin area.

Our group of 21 volunteers took a day to clean, move furniture, paint cabins, stain cabins, mount ladders, stain decks, finish picnic tables and transport firewood.  Needless to say, we were all tired by noon.  Thankfully, the Girl Scouts of Wisconsin staff knew exactly what we needed in order to keep us going . . . Girl Scout Cookies!  Thin Mints, Do-si-dos, Tagalongs, Caramel DeLites, you name them, we had them.  Yes, we were in Girl Scout Cookie Heaven.

By the time that we mounted our bus, taking us back to the city, the team had successfully completed the equivalent of two weeks of work in one day.  The great thing about this day is that we were not only able to help the Girl Scouts of Wisconsin, but we were also able to build new relationships with the people of the the Global IT Security Team.  The GE Healthcare IMLPs fully enjoyed this day of serving the community and partnering with Global IT.
