Hacker HS 2011 - An Introduction to SQL Injection
June 9, 2011
Last Thursday, June 2nd, IMLPs Murali Rathinasamy, Jeff Rechten, Kaitlin Lambracht and IMLP Intern Andrew Karnani hosted this year's Hacker High School event at the Greater Hartford Academy of Math and Science (GHAMAS) in Hartford, CT. The group delivered a presentation on SQL injection which covered information security in general, ethical hacking, SQL, the SQL injection vulnerability itself, and approaches to protecting applications from this vulnerability. In the afternoon, the group set up a virtual machine and gave the students the opportunity to hack it (ethically of course).
The group also took this opportunity to showcase GE as a company and the IMLP program as well as other leadership programs available at GE.
Hacker High School is an IMLP-hosted event that is held each year after the GE Computer Science Contest (held in April at Fairfield Headquarters). Next year, the goal is to host this event at more schools in addition to GHAMAS, a regular participant year over year.
Thanks to all who participated and helped to make this event a success!
